Items You Should Always Carry in Your Car

These are a few items that every car owner should consider buying, as they would make the ownership experience much better. We have curated a list based on the personal experiences of travellers explorers and ourselves. In case of emergencies and roadside breakdowns, these tools and equipment would help you get your vehicle roadworthy.

Instead of discussing items you would have to find in the local markets, we are only going to discuss readily available online products. All you have to do is search for them and buy them if they seem important to you.

Glass Breaker / Hammer

You would only use this device in case of an accident or being locked in inside your car. The equipment has a sharp metal point on one end of the hammer that breaks the glass when hurled onto the glass with full force. This is a useful device in case of accidents when the car doors are impacted and fail to open. You can easily use this device to break the side window pane glasses and climb out of the vehicle. The front and rear windshields are way tougher than the side window pane glasses; hence, always try to break the side window glasses first in emergencies.

Even using this tool, the glass might break, leaving shards of fine, sharp particles at the bottom of the window sills. Always pay close attention to these, as being dragged through them might lead to further injury. This handy tool could be helpful in dire situations, so use it carefully.

Seatbelt Stripper

The seat belt stripper does exactly as the name suggests; in case of impact, if the seatbelt gets stuck and resists in opening up, you can easily use this tool to help you strip the seatbelts to evade any further injuries or issues. This would allow you to escape the vehicle as soon as possible without any issues or challenges. In case of a fire or other problem, evacuating the vehicle as quickly as possible is essential. To ensure that your car does not go through such issues, keep an eye on the engine temperature while driving.

Seatbelt Cutter

Let the car cool down if it rises and check for leaks or thermostat valve failures.  In such cases, people often think that shutting the engine off would help the engine cool down, while on the contrary, the engine should be left idling as it would help the water circulate within the engine

Small Fire extinguisher

This is an essential item, especially for Vehicles running on alternative fuels such as CNG. Keeping a small Fire extinguisher would help in cases of overheating or vehicle fire. To ensure that such situations do not arise with your vehicle, always maintain it and take care of all its needs as and when required. Keep the coolant levels in check and ensure that your thermostat valves and coolant hoses are in good health.

Fire Extinguisher

Suppose the car showcases any signs of overheating. Park the car and switch on the heater. This generally helps extract the engine bay's heat into the interior of the vehicle. Call roadside assistance providers in extreme situations and ask them to check the car. Never try to loosen or open the radiator cap in such conditions, as hot coolant might splurge all over. Preventive maintenance is always better and cheaper than the issues that might arise when it's not done correctly. In hot weather, always keep an eye on the engine oil temperature gauge so that you can focus on any kind of anomalies early on.

Wheel Lock Clamp

The wheel lock is another safety equipment that can be highly useable in case of vehicle parking in unknown areas. This clamp attaches to your tyre, making it impossible for the vehicle to steal or move about if the hand brake is depressed. This could be a helpful tool that you can easily carry around and deploy whenever you park.

Battery-Powered Tyre Inflator

While the road infrastructure in India is developing rapidly, it's still possible that you might run into a puncture. For all those possibilities, these Battery powered inflators are the best.

Tyre Inflator

Being battery-powered, their functionality rises above the normal inflators as these can be easily carried and used to inflate other things as well. We highly recommend that you choose inflaters that can charge the normal 220-230 AC plugs in your households. Such types of inflaters would increase your capability to drive further.

Blind Spot Blind Spot Mirrors

While manufacturers have tried to solve this issue of blind spots in the side rear view mirrors for years, you often might witness blind spots in your vehicle's rear view mirrors while passing other cars at high speed. To solve such problems, you can find these small blind spot mirrors that can be placed on the side view mirrors and used to drive around easily. These make it easier for a driver to detect other cars that might be in the blind spots of your vehicle.

Car Tow Rope

Car Towing Rope

The importance of this safety equipment cannot be overstated. In any kind of breakdown or accident, these could come in handy. A car owner should always carry a tow rope for emergency purposes. But before buying the rope, you should ensure that it can withstand the weight of your vehicle. That’s very important.

All in all, these things would help you well if you drive around normally on highways and roads without any heavy off-roading. But if you are going to off-road, you should carry a few more necessities and also a much more comprehensive first aid kit.
