10, Fool Proof Strategies To Avoid Getting Lost on Your RenTrip Adventure

While social media has enhanced tourism in several mainstream places, its charm and approach still shy away from various off-the-beaten-path enigmatic places with real heritage and legacies behind them.

So if you are planning to reach an adventurous escapade to any place with years' worth of heritage behind it and are hindered in this pursuit due to the lack of public transport, renting a Self Drive Bike or a Self Drive car would be easier. In most cases, this off-the-beaten-path, less popular places would be hidden away in some nook or cranny of the city; hence, it's possible that you might get lost while exploring them. But don't you worry, RenTrip has a venerable solution for that as well.

Losing your way during a trip

To help you explore such places, we have articulated a list of steps that would allow you to reach your destination and serve you whenever you would like to visit a similar place.

Here are a Few Inputs that Might be able to Help you with Similar cases:

  • In such cases where you leap out of the normal path to discover places that are off the path and need recognition, always remember rather than depending upon Google Maps or GPS, depending upon the locals who reside in the area.
  • These people would be able to guide you the best, considering that they might have witnessed the place for years and years without fully understanding how vital its place has been in history.
  • Before visiting the place, read all about it and try to understand its significance in the local area. While you are at it, try to find an eatery close to it and have your lunch there rather than at a fancy restaurant nearby. Such expenditures would help the locals flourish and work towards making the place more hospitable.
  • Once you reach such a place, we ask you to always try to post about it on your social media handles or, add a star to your location or write down your location manually for better reach.
  • Before leaving on such explorations, always communicate with your friends and relatives so that, in case of any emergency, someone can communicate with local authorities.
  • Suppose you are planning a camping or adventure trip in forests or areas of wilderness. In that case, we recommend that you carry GPS navigation modules such as Garmin or E-Trex with you so that you can easily communicate your location to rescue teams or other services in case of an emergency.
  • If you have deviated from your route or destination and come far off, try finding the closest police station and asking for help; in most cases, police will be able to guide you to your location.
  • we recommend that you keep calm, try to remember the location you travelled from, and accordingly try to manage to travel back to where you came from.
  • If you are travelling to a new location, we recommend that you try to travel during the daytime, as getting help becomes a little difficult at night.
  • Sharing your live location with someone you trust while on a hike or a travelling spree might be helpful as well. They would be able to gather information and easily provide you with help and support.

Downloading offline maps.

If you are travelling through a pre-decided area, we recommend that you download offline maps of the place from the get-go. Once you download the offline maps, you no longer need internet data to figure out your route. We also recommend that you carry a power bank and have enough 4 G data to ensure that you can easily receive and send location data. Carrying digital money and ensuring that you have access to your money online would always be an added benefit.

Learning local phrases

If you are travelling to a place with a language barrier, we recommend that you learn a few local phrases for simple tasks such as buying products, asking for directions, and hiring autos. Applications like Google Translate and others would help you in this pursuit.

Keeping an eye on the road signs

It's important to keep an eye on the road signs to ensure you know where you are. Always remember road signs and try to gauge your location through them.  Landmark places based on their appearances in your cognition to ensure that if you get lost you can ensure where you are and where you have to travel towards.

Downloading the Local Taxi and Transport Application

If you are in a city that has facilities like a metro train and government-run bus services, we recommend that you download their application. Through this application, you can recognize all the locations from which you can pick up a ride in an intercity bus or tube train. Researching the places where you would be dropped off or picked up before reaching the location might also be a good option.
