No Registration Cost on Hybrid Cars In UP, Save Up To 2 lakhs on These Selected Models
Amid the growing concerns for global warming and sustainable use of natural resources, Uttar Pradesh Govt has come forward with a welcome step to waive off the registration fees on Strong HYBRID/Fully Hybrid vehicles available in the market. In the overall scheme of steps taken to drive the nation towards sustainability, this step is aimed to encourage the overall adoption of such vehicles in society.
As per the official statements, it has been reported that the government anticipates a massive surge in Hybrid vehicle sales in the future, and with Uttar Pradesh placing a profound precedent, other states that record high sales of such vehicles might soon follow. The affordability of such vehicles is a big concern as of now in India. The superior research, technology and equipment that have been installed in the vehicles are pretty expensive. Automakers such as Suzuki, Honda, and Toyota consider the initiative a welcome effort toward a more sustainable future.
Difference Between Mild Hybrids and Full Hybrids
Mild Hybrids, Smart Hybrids, Power-Assist Hybrids, and Battery-Assist Vehicles are cars with a conventional internal combustion engine equipped with an extended battery alongside an auxiliary electric motor and a generator. Such vehicles cannot fully run on batteries, but electric power takes over whenever the engine brakes, coasts, or stops and needs a restart. Most cars with such a system come with regenerative braking and some sort of mild power assist to the internal combustion Engine.
In such a system the Generator motor unit is driven by a belt by the power of the engine to supply power to a battery. This generator is powered through regenerative braking as well. Through this system, the heat that would have dissipated otherwise is recaptured and recovered for powering the vehicle.
Full Hybrid's/ Strong Hybrid
It also has a combination of similar components, but the generator unit and the battery are much more substantial and can propel the vehicle itself. Hence, these can be operated in fully zero emissions mode up to 62% of the time on average. A mild hybrid car cannot drive on battery power itself and always works in tandem with an internal combustion engine. The waiver of registration has only been done on Strong hybrid vehicles.
